In May 2023, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, commissioned a total of 10 projects at POLAC, including a Moot Court. During this event, he emphasized the importance of enhanced investigation and prosecution skills for cadet lawyers. These projects were part of a broader initiative that also featured the completion of various other facilities within the Police Academy, such as an ICT Building, a Digital Forensic Laboratory, an Indoor Sports Complex, Indoor Shooting Range, Post Graduate Hostel, Administrative Building, Gate House, a newly constructed road network, and a Lecture Auditorium sponsored by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
In February 2022, the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil-Kano, Assistant Inspector General of Police Ahmad AbdurRahman, personally inspected the hostels to assess their conditions. During the inspection, he expressed disappointment with the poor maintenance of the Female Hostel and directed the Director of Works, ACP Musa Sani Muhammed, to ensure that construction and reconstruction projects meet high-quality standards. In response to concerns raised by the Matron, CSP Favor Fadawa, regarding the welfare of female cadets, the Commandant assured her that he is actively addressing these issues and intends to advocate for the construction of world-class hostel accommodations for cadets. This demonstrates his commitment to improving the welfare of academy cadets, as previously outlined.
In September 2022, the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, Assistant Inspector General of Police Ahmad Abdurrahman, along with his Management Team, visited the ongoing Cadets Hostel Project to assess its quality and progress. During the inspection, the Commandant emphasized the importance of ensuring both the quality and timely completion of the project for the benefit of the academy’s cadets. This visit reflects the Commandant’s commitment to improving the standards of cadet hostel accommodations. It is worth noting that during a previous Presidential Visit to the academy by former President Muhammadu Buhari, the President reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to enhancing the academy’s infrastructure through increased annual budget allocations and support from government ministries and agencies like Tetfund and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
