Anchor University Lagos
Anchor University is a private university affiliated with the Deeper Christian Life Ministry. The Christian university is situated in Ayobo, Ipaja, Lagos State, Nigeria.
Established in September 2014, the chancellor of the university is William Kumuyi, founder of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry Worldwide. More information about Anchor University is available on the school website, aul.edu.ng
Deeper Life Anchor University History
Prior to the establishment of Anchor University in 2014, construction began in 2013. The university was approved and licensed by the Nigerian University Commission (NUC) on Wednesday, November 2, 2016.
In October 2018, Anchor University Lagos got the approval of the National Universities Commission to run 14 new courses. The courses are: information technology, physics with Electronics, Biotechnology, Industrial Chemistry, Geology, French, Chemistry Education, Biology Education, Mathematics Education, Physics Education, Computer Science Education, Applied Geophysics, International Relations, Banking and Finance.
In March 2018, Anchor University matriculated one hundred and seventeen students into the various academic disciplines for the 2017-2018 academic session.
In May 2022, the new vice chancellor of Anchor University, Prof. Samuel Oye Bandele, said plans were underway to upgrade the institute to an international standard. He made this known while speaking at the sixth matriculation of the university.
In early February 2022, Anchor University appointed the former Vice-Chancellor of the Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele, as its new Vice-Chancellor.
In June 2022, NUC granted full accreditation to eleven Anchor University programs. Some of which include a Bachelor’s Degree programmes in French, Biology Education, Physics, Physics with Electronics, Biotechnology, Geology, Biology, Information Technology, Economics, International Relations.
On January 20, 2022, Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa chaired the first “Distinguished Public Lecture” of the Faculty of Humanities, Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos.
On August 23, 2022, the Vice-Chancellor of Anchor University, Lagos, Professor Samuel Bandele, disclosed the proposed plan by the university to collaborate with Deeper Life High School on student admissions. Bandele made this disclosure while delivering the valedictory lecture at the Deeper Life High School, titled: ‘Peculiar Treasure,” held at the DLHS campus in Lagos.
On September 27, 2022, Anchor University, Ayobo, Lagos, introduced three postgraduate courses approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC). The vice chancellor of AUL, Professor Samuel Oye Bandele, who disclosed this, said the postgraduate courses include Business Administration, Computer Science and Microbiology.
On October 2021, the Chancellor of Anchor University, Lagos (AUL), Pastor Williams Kumuyi, charged the new Governing Council to take the four-year-old institution to the next level. He gave the charge while inaugurating the 11-man governing council led by a former Vice Chancellor, Professor Steve Odi-Owei.
In January 2021, Professor Johnson Fatokun, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Anchor University Lagos (AUL), who was recently abducted in Nasarawa State, regained his freedom from his abductors. Prior to his kidnap, Fatokun had gone to drop his children in schools in Jos and Kaduna and was on his way back when he was abducted.
