What is Formal Education?
Formal education is a systematic and structured form of learning. Formal education is a type of learning that takes place in educational and training institutions or centres, which is usually structured by curricular aims and objectives, and learning is commonly guided by trained teachers.
What’s Non-formal Education?
According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, non-formal education refers to education that takes place outside the formal school system. Non-formal education also refers to a wide range of educational initiatives in the community, which cover home-based learning, government schemes, as well as community initiatives.
Non-formal education occurs as an addition or option to formal education. It could be structured according to educational arrangements but in a more flexible manner, and it usually occurs in society-based or community-based settings.
Meaning Of Informal Education
Informal education is a type of education that takes place in everyday life. Informal education covers a wide array of learning that all people take part in on a daily basis. It covers daily activities such as individual and personal research on a subject or interests for themselves by making use of libraries, the internet, books, informal trainers, and other resources. This type of education also involved learning things without the learner realising that he or she had learned them. This can be any kind of information that the learner picks up from watching television, listening to radio, or conversing with friends or colleagues.
Education in Nigeria Today.
Nigeria’s education is overseen by the Federal Ministry of Education. Nigeria’s educational system is divided into four parts.
- Kindergarten
- Primary education
- Secondary education
- Tertiary education.
Nigeria’s educational institutions are run by the private and public sectors. At the government-owned educational institution, the student only pays for PTA, while at the private school, students pay tuition fees and other requested fees, which include sports, computer fees, exam fees, and others, and they’re often expensive.
