The Babcock University Medical School is officially known as the Benjamin S. Carson (SNR) College of Health and Medical Sciences. 

Babcock University, situated in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria, is a private co-educational university that is owned and run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria. The institution has been affiliated with the Seventh-day Adventist Church since its establishment in 1959. It is noteworthy that Babcock University is equidistant between Ibadan and Lagos. Notably, the Ben Carson School of Medicine at Babcock University produced its inaugural class of graduates in 2017. Moreover, Babcock University is part of the world’s second-largest Christian school system, which is the Seventh-day Adventist education system.
In the past six years, the Babcock University Teaching Hospital has conducted more than 959 open-heart surgeries, of which over 518 were classified as major surgeries, achieving a success rate of approximately 95 percent.

The school also aims to produce doctors suitable for postgraduate training anywhere in the world.

Admission Requirements

The Benjamin S. Carson (Snr) School of Medicine requires applicants to meet specific entry requirements for admission. For Unified Tertiary Institution Admission (UMTE), applicants must have a minimum of five credits in core sciences, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English language.

Alternatively, for Direct Entry, applicants must have a Higher School Certificate or its equivalent, or a Bachelor of Science degree with a second-class upper division in life science disciplines such as Anatomy, Biochemistry, Biology, Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Nursing, Physiology, Physiotherapy, Public Health, or Zoology. These qualifications must be obtained from Babcock University or any institution recognized by the Senate of Babcock University.

In addition, all eligible candidates must present their transcript and show credits in English language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry at one sitting in the Ordinary Level examination. Lastly, the candidate must pass the Babcock University Medical School Admission Test (BUMSAT) to be considered for admission.

Babcock University School Fees For Medicine

The current school fees at the Babcock University College of Health and Medical Sciences range from ₦1,861,200 to ₦4,000,000 depending on your level. 

These school fees include Miscellaneous charge, Feeding for one year, Acceptance fee, Regular hostel, ePayment course, ICT Related fees among others. 

Medical students are required to pay a mandatory laboratory fee of N39,000.00.

Feeding Fees

Medical students are expected to pay a whopping sum of 315,000 Naira for the 2-meal option and 472,500 Naira for the 3-meal option for a full year. For the second semester alone, the fees stand at 157,500 Naira and 236,250 Naira, respectively.
