UNIOSUN College of Health Sciences

The College of Health Sciences was one of the first colleges established at Osun State University in September 2007. They offer B.Sc degrees in Anatomy, Physiology, Public Health, and Nursing Science. They were able to start teaching MBBS again when the Chancellor donated a hospital to the university.

The college started with only one teacher, but now there are many more, including professors, lecturers, and assistant lecturers. They have labs and classrooms that are well-equipped for teaching and research.

The B.Sc. courses they offer cover the same material as those offered in the Science Faculty, but they start to teach more specialized subjects in the second year. The college is divided into three faculties: Basic Medical Sciences, Basic Clinical Sciences, and Clinical Sciences. Each faculty has different departments, and the courses they offer follow the rules set by the National Universities Commission and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

UNIOSUN Department of Medicine and Surgery

The UNIOSUN Department of Medicine and Surgery is one of the departments under the College of Health Sciences at Osun State University. The Department was established to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to become medical doctors. The Department is dedicated to producing competent and highly skilled medical practitioners who will be able to provide quality healthcare services to the people.

The Department offers a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme that is accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. The programme is designed to take six years and is divided into two phases: the pre-clinical phase and the clinical phase.

The Department of Medicine and Surgery at Osun State University (UNIOSUN) has recorded many notable successes, such as recent research grants worth $300,000, which will undoubtedly bolster the department’s research capabilities and reputation.
