- You should be enrolling in your First Year of full-time post-secondary education at a public institution in Canada. This includes universities, community colleges, technological institutes, nursing schools, and similar educational establishments.
- If you are applying for a scholarship as the child of a Unifor member, you must provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher, principal, or community activist. However, if you are applying as a Unifor member yourself, your letter of reference can also be from a Unifor or other Labour Education Discussion Leader, Local Union Committee Chair, District Labour Council representative, or a member of your Local Union Executive.
- If you are applying for a scholarship as a child of a Unifor member, you must include your most current transcript/record of marks.
Please Note: The administration of the five National and Quebec scholarships is handled by the Quebec Council, and a separate application form is required. If you reside in Quebec, please refer to www.uniforquebec.org for the specific application process.
What to Include in Your Application for the Unifor Scholarship

- Jim Ashton Memorial Scholarship:
Established in memory of Brother Jim Ashton, a dedicated advocate of labor rights and social justice. Brother Ashton served as a CAW National Executive Board member and president of the London and District Labour Council. This scholarship honors his principles and commitment to the labor movement.
- Larry Bauer Memorial Scholarship: Created to honor the unwavering dedication of Brother Larry Bauer in improving the lives of working people. Brother Bauer held various positions within CAW Local 444 and represented active workers and retired members from the Chrysler Marine Division. His legacy and contributions are commemorated through this scholarship.
