History of Caleb University
Caleb University is one of Nigeria’s finest emerging universities. It’s a private university situated in Imota, Lagos, Nigeria. The institution was established on January 7, 2008. The chancellor of the university is Mrs. Monica Johnson.
In February 2022, the Vice-Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie, appealed to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr. Sylvester Alabi, to save the institution from the menace of land grabbers who are trespassing on the institution’s land.
In March 2022, Caleb University was accredited by the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) to run Bachelors and Masters degree programmes.
The Governing Council of Caleb University appointed Professor Nosa Owens-Ibie as its new Vice Chancellor in November 2019. Owens-Ibie took over from Prof. Ayandiji Aina. Prof. Adedeji Daramola, who was the first Rector of Redeemers College of Technology, Ogun State, was also appointed as its new Deputy Vice Chancellor.
In December 2021, Caleb University appointed the Chairman of Executive Group and Board Member, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr Ayo Ogunsan, as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the institution.
On March 10, 2022, a 25-man delegation, which was comprised of students and lecturers from the School of Communications and Media Studies of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, visited the headquarters office of Independent Newspapers Limited in Lagos, Nigeria to expose the students to current theoretical and practical aspects of newspaper production, marketing, and management.
In November 2021, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, renewed the tenure of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adedeji Daramola, for a second term in office, while Professor Olalekan Asikhia was appointed as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Innovation, Strategy, and Administration.
Caleb University on March 15,2022, matriculated 2,140 students.
Caleb University was awarded the International Outstanding University Award for quality education and moral standards at the World Education and Technology Summit, which took place on August 28, 2021, at the Nigerian National Merit Award House, Abuja.

On February 10, 2021, the National Universities Commission (NUC) approved Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, to run a full-time law programme. The Caleb University College of Law is located at the College of Law, Magodo, CMD Road, Lagos.
Caleb University, in March 2022, appointed the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, as co-chairman of the board of the institution’s law faculty.
Caleb University College of Law introduced the law program to ensure that graduates have an excellent general knowledge of the law, including a clear understanding of its place and importance in society. The university currently offers public and property law and private and international law.
