About Chrisland University
Chrisland University’s foundation was laid over forty years ago by High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Winifred Awosika, OON, a seasoned Educationist and Administrator with a vision to positively impact the educational sector. The university, an extension of Chrisland Schools Limited, began with just seven students. Dr. Awosika envisioned establishing new educational levels every decade, aspiring to lead private education in Nigeria from kindergarten to tertiary levels. She initiated the Nursery section, starting with a small group in her kitchen, and expanded it over ten years. Subsequently, the Secondary School and Pre-degree College were established in separate ten-year intervals, evolving into a substantial citadel of learning. Founded in 1977, Chrisland Schools remains the largest privately owned educational institution in Nigeria.
After a slight delay in establishing the university arm as planned, Chrisland University obtained its full operational license on September 17, 2015, to operate as a private university in Nigeria, officially accredited by the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s National Universities Commission in 2019.
Initially starting with two colleges, namely the College of Arts, Management, and Social Sciences and the College of Natural and Applied Sciences, the institution expanded its academic offerings. In 2019, the College of Basic Medical Sciences was introduced, followed by NUC accreditation for the College of Law in 2022.
Under the leadership of the current Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Chinedum Peace Babalola, FAS, the university achieved full accreditation for nine programs during the 2018 NUC Accreditation. Additionally, three programs presented for NUC accreditation in 2021—Mass Communication, Banking and Finance, and International Relations—received full accreditation in the same year. The academic activities of the university commenced on September 17, 2015, with the admission of seven pioneer students into the initial two colleges.

Chrisland University Dress Code
As a well-respected and prestigious university, Chrisland University is determined to uphold purity and good conduct and has put in place a dress code that all students must comply with.
In March 2021, during the matriculation ceremony at Chrisland University in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Mrs.) Chinedum Peace Babalola, emphasized the importance of decent and modest dressing for newly admitted students. She made it clear that the institution would not tolerate any acts of indiscipline or loose conduct among its students. Parents had reportedly signed undertakings as guarantees for their children’s good behavior.
Prof. Babalola commended parents for choosing Chrisland University and acknowledged their cooperation during the admissions process. She urged students to uphold the agreed-upon rules and regulations, emphasizing that the university values both learning and character development. The Vice Chancellor expressed her commitment to ensuring that students excel in both aspects.
Additionally, she highlighted the university’s zero-tolerance policy towards cultism, hooliganism, and corruption. Prof. Babalola advised the new students to show respect to their colleagues and university staff, emphasizing the importance of fostering a positive and productive environment during their academic journey at Chrisland University.

Dress Code For Male Students
- Male students are expected to dress preferably in a conventional suit, a French suit, or, at the very least, in trousers and a tucked-in shirt with a tie.
- Boxers, t-shirts, and all forms of sandals or slippers are not permitted during official hours (8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.).
- Tail shirts, especially those with long sleeves, must be tucked in and buttoned up for a respectable appearance. Moving around campus with a bare chest and belly is prohibited.
- Hair must be properly cut and combed, and growing a beard is not allowed.
- Bathroom slippers are restricted to halls of residence and must not be worn outside.
- Threadbare or torn jeans are not allowed.
- The use of any form of female ornament, like earrings, necklaces, bangles, and bracelets, is not permitted.
- Native attire is allowed as long as it conforms to the specified standards.
- Trousers should be properly worn and should not be placed on the buttocks.
Dress Code For Female Students
- Skirts must be long enough to cover the knees while sitting or standing. Slits in skirts must not go above the knees.
- Blouses must cover the breasts down to the abdomen and have sleeves long enough to conceal bra straps.
- Transparent dresses that reveal underwear are not permitted outside the halls of residences.
- Tight-fitting dresses are not allowed outside the halls of residences.
- Female students are not allowed to wear knicker burgers and trousers outside their halls of residence.
- The use of trinkets is discouraged, aligning with the cultural norms of the Christ Apostolic Church.
- Pyjamas, nightgowns, and bathroom slippers are not allowed outside the halls of residences.
